Members Darrell Allison and Anna Fishburn share a few moments together before the meeting. Settling in for the meeting are members Sharon Ehrhorn, PP Samir El-Swaify, and Sandy Gaston. Famous for their help at the check-in table AND regular attendance are members Jonathan Okabe, Jerry Taniyama, and Doug Kam-Young, alias the Three Amigos. Al Dixon passes the mantle of Club Service Director on to member Sharon Ehrhorn as he steps into the role of Club Secretary. Five visiting Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Sasebo South, Japan, take a turn at the mike to introduce themselves.
Secretary Al Dixon dielvers the Thought for the Day, last minute fill-in for Harold Murray who was unable to make it to the meeting. President Paul Jurcsak congratulates Program Chair Dianne Ward who was named Rotarian of the Month for our club. Sandy Gaston gives us our Rotary minute for the evening, focusing on Service. Membership Director Marco Schlesser rallying the entire club to get behind a membership drive. Member Larry Rawson gives a vocational talk about his background as a veterinarian, and how that brought him to Hawaii.
The Sasebo, Japan Rotarians are an all-male club and wanted to have their photo taken with all of our female members in attendance this evening. The Board made it official this evening that Sharon Ehrhorn is our new Club Service Director. She asked the membership to help her with ideas for fellowship events. Our speaker this evening was Russ Boyer, a Rotarian himself and Past President, who spoke to us about membership recruiting. Part of speaker Boyer's presentation involved recruitment role-playing. Here, Dianne Ward tries to talk Al Dixon followed up the speakers presentation with reminders of all of the promotional materials that we already have on hand regarding Rotary.
Pres Paul asks our speaker Russ Boyer to sign a book for donation to our adopted elementary school.
