Secretary Al Dixon and Membership Director Marco Schlesser have a little pre-meeting discussion about member retention. Community Service Director Johnny Sanchez and Club Service Director Sharon Ehrhorn share the duties of member check-in this evening. Sharing a little pre-meeting fellowship are Darrell Allison, Jerry Taniyama and Jonathan Okabe. Surrounded by beauty, Doug Kam-Young sits with wife Phyllis to his right and member Anna Fishburn to his left. WYC's ever-helpful Eddie lights the outside torches as the sun sets over the yacht harbor.
Rosa Chen and PE Beth Hoban talk story before the meeting begins. President Paul Jurcsak, pretty in pink tonight in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, opens the meeting. Yuko Kuramochi, exchange student from Japan, visits the club again and shares some views of her experience thus far. Membership Director Marco gives us another Membership Minute regarding missing meetings and making up when you do. The
Member Phil Valenti gives a vocational overview of his profession in military international logistics. Our guest speaker for the evening, Rita Norton tells how she and husband Bob came to Hawaii to start Waikiki's latest water sports venture...the Red Dolphin. Pres Paul has guest speaker Rita Norton sign the customarily donated book for our adopted school, Jefferson Elementary. Members dressed in pink assemble for a group photo on Breast Cancer Awareness night in recognition of the fight against the disease that has touched us all in one way or another. Two days after the meeting, member volunteers gather behind their picked-up trash at Jefferson Elementary:
FRONT - Paul Jurcsak, Beth Hoban, Yuko Kuramochi, Hattie Dixon
BACK - Jim Hoban, Al Dixon, Patty Maher, Harold Murray, Chuck Harris
And a preview of Halloween hijinks at Jan Reischel's later that day after the clean-up. Here is the regal King Tut and Cleopatra Hoban. ...and last, but by far not the least...President Jurcsak, in one of his scarier moments. The guy runs a mean meeting though, doesn't he??
