A trio of members - Keola Lloyd, President Paul Jurcsak, and Membership Director Marco Schlesser are among the first to arrive for tonight's meeting. Proposed new member Cari Belczak settles in for dinner and the meeting flanked by her dad, Paul Belczak, and club Secretary Al Dixon.  Paul is thinking about membership too. PP Chuck Harris is joined at the PE Beth Hoban chats with PP John Meyer before the meeting.  Both are involved in the production of our annual FUNdraiser, JAZZ Under The Stars. Members Marco Schlesser, Prez Paul, and Rich Zegar gather to welcome back New Generations Director Glen Bailey (left) from his trip to the Philippines. PP Harry Kubota takes the mike to deliver several thoughts for the day, among them, Back from the FIRST Robotics competition, Eric Teshima announces that their team took first place AND that he personally has been awarded a FULL scholarship to the University of Hawaii. There he is again, delivering our Rotary Moment with that ever-present smile.  First night without the cane from his knee operation three months ago...probably why he has the big smile. PE Beth Hoban reminds all members of the fast-approaching date for our one and only annual FUNdraiser event on May 12th this year.
Beth followed up by having PP John Meyer urge members on to bring in items for the FUNdraiser's silent auction.  John is handling that aspect of the event this year. Foundation Director Rich Zegar congratulates Doug Kam-Young for his continued support of the Foundation and presents him with his PH+1 pin. Member Glen Bailey spoke briefly of his trip to the Philippines, work with the St Mary's project there, and visits to two of the local Rotary Clubs - Pasig and Bacolod North. Wearing her Speaker Sue Cowing tells of her first book, the time spent in getting it published, and her volunteer work with the non-profit organization Childrens Literature Hawaii.
After autographing a book to be donated in her name to our adopted Elementary school, Sue Cowing and Prez Paul smile for the camera.
