PP Chuck Harris and Sgt-At-Arms Jim Hoban enjoy the yacht club venue, a little fellowship, and a little grape juice. Club Service Director Sharon Ehrhorn and Community Service Director Johnny Sanchez provide even more service at the check-in table. Mahalo! Our incoming Board of Directors for the 2012-2013 Rotary year held a meeting prior to this evening's regular meeting. The other end of the Board meeting table. You just can't beat the venue, the weather, and the fellowship of our club says these relaxed members...Jerry Taniyama, Doug Kam-Young, and Phil Valenti.
Sandy Gaston, Membership Director Marco Schlesser, and PP Samir El-Swaify enjoy a little of the ambience prior to the meeting as well. President Paul Jurcsak gets things rolling for the evening after ringing the bell and getting everyone to pledge their allegiance to our country's flag. Harold Murray does another stellar job in presenting our Thought For The Day. President Paul performs the induction ceremony for our two newest members, James Buchner (L) and Paul Belczak (R). New member sponsors join Prez Paul and Marco Schlesser at the podium.
Membership Director Marco awards sponsor Cari Belczak her sponsor pin for bringing her dad, Paul, into the Sunset Ohana. Marco similarly congratulates Jane Ferreira for introducing new member James Buchner to the world of Rotary and in particular, the Honolulu Sunset Club. Cari Belczak now has the honor of pinning on her dad Paul's new Rotary membership pin. I think he's proud in more ways than one. Jane applies James Buchner's new membership pin and officially welcomes him into the honolulu Sunset Ohana. ALL club members are asked to stand in honor of our newest members as they are applauded for their decision and committment.
Sandy Gaston makes another trip to the podium to deliver our Rotary Minute, keeping us informed as usual. PDG Ayman El-Dakhakhni gives us a little vocational service background on getting into the VIP Transportation business. Next, PDG Ayman tunes up his auctioneering skills by offering a WWII cap brought in by PP Harry Kubota, background, to the highest bidder. Being the memorabilia collector that he is, Sandy Gaston was the successful bidder on the cap. PP Beth Hoban, this year's Fundraiser chairperson, reviews assignments and scheduling for this Saturday's big once-a-year event.
Last but not least, Secretary and Fundraiser TicketMaster Al Dixon reviews ticket sales to date, congratulates timely members, and urges the late ones to turn in ticket proceeds asap.
