The buffet line opened early to get the festivities underway and was eagerly attended by our 84 members and guests. Entertainer Gordon Mark played a variety of beautiful songs on the ukulele as members and guests arrived for the evening's events.  Gordon instructs and has played with the Honolulu Symphony. President Paul opens our last regular meeting, and his final one as our club leader, for the 2011-2012 Rotary year. Incoming District 5000 Governor for the 2012-2013 Rotary year Chet Dal Santo and his wife Judy acknowledge their introduction. Definitely a packed house of members and guests at the Waikiki Yacht Club this evening.
President Paul welcomes our first Honorary Member into our club, Leilani Magee, tennis pro with Hawaiian Isles Tennis and volunteer extrordinaire. These eleven members maintained 100% perfect attendance ALL year - Rich, Jan, Paul, Beth, Al, Jane, Liz, Jim, Ayman, Lei, and Marco.  Congratulations! PDG Hal Darcey stepped in to award several members of our club a conch for their giving as members of the White Hat Society.  Here, Kaz Nomi receives his FIFTH conch. PDG Hal awards our own Foundation Director Rich Zegar his fourth conch as a White Hat Society member.  This represents a $5000 donation for each conch. Two PDGs - Hal Darcy awarding PDG Ayman El-Dakhakhni his third conch as a White Hat Society member.  These $5000 donations each occur during a single Rotary year to qualify.
And finally, PP Harry Kubota has also stepped up to the plate in the White Hat Society and receives his second conch.  With donors such as these, is it any wonder why we're number one in the District for Foundation giving. Here, President Paul congratulates Marco Schlesser with a Certificate of Appreciation for a job well done as our Membership Director this past year. Club Service Director Sharon Ehrhorn receives a Certificate of Appreciation from Pres Paul for her role in the running of our club. Program Chair Dianne Ward is also a recipient of a Certificate of Appreciation from Pres Paul for her handling of guest speakers. Vocational Service Director Jane Ferreira is also honored with a Certificate of Appreciation for her outstanding work this past year.
Pres Paul awards International Service Director Lei Darcey a Certificate of Appreciation for her far-reaching club project work in the Philippines. New Generations Director Glen Bailey receives a Certificate of Appreciation for the many projects in which he was involved for the keiki of Hawaii and the Philippines. And a final Certificate of Appreciation is given to our Community Service Director Johnny Sanchez for his ever-present help, organization, and support of our community projects.  Definitely service above self. Foundation Director Rich Zegar is awarded a Distinguished Service Citation from Pres Paul for taking the club to a First Place finish in the District again this year. Pres Paul awards a Distinguished Service Citation to Secretary Al Dixon for his work in keeping the club organized and current with reports to District and RI.
Another Distinguished Service Citation is awarded to Club Treasurer Gloria Lao for her countless hours of behind the scenes accounting work for the club. PP Chuck Harris is another Distinguished Service Citatation recipient for his continuing input and assistance given to President Paul and the Board during the past year. PE Beth Hoban also receives a Distinguished Service Citation from Pres Paul for her tireless performance of club support while also training to take over as our new leader for 2012-2013. Paul presents a Presidential Citation to our Youth Exchange Student from Japan, Yuko Kuramochi, for helping out with many of our community projects and for the wonderful outgoing personality that she brings to our meetings. Here, Sgt-At-Arms Jim Hoban receives a Presidential Citation for his work in keeping our meetings running smoothly and on time each week.
Another Presidential Citation recipient is Sandy Gaston for his role in presenting our Rotary Moment at each meeting and keeping us educated about this organization to which we all belong. Bob Ehrhorn receives a Presidential Citation from Pres Paul for his dedication to working every meeting behind the camera as our club photographer.  Just couldn't do it with out ya, Bob. President Paul awards Doug Kam-Young the District One of our newest members with barely a year of membership, Nancy Manley receives the District Here, Secretary Al Dixon is honored with the Rotary International Avenues of Service Award for his across the board support of all facets of Rotary service for our club.
President Paul has chosen Vocational Service Director Jane Ferreira for our The Rotarian of the Year award for our club is presented by President Paul to Rich Zegar for his outstanding support of the Foundation, the education of our club members, and the overall service he has provided to the club as a whole.  President Paul thanks his wife Hiroko and daughter Mariko with flowers for all the time and support they have given him during his year as the leader of our club. Changing of the guard - PDG Ayman El-Dakhakhni inducts PE Beth Hoban as the new President of Honolulu Sunset, and administers the oath of office. With Beth now officially installed as club President, she administers the oath of office to induct our incoming President-Elect and club Vice President for 2012-2013, Jan Reischel.
A picture of your full Board of Officers and Directors for the 2012-2013 Rotary year following their oath of office and official induction. With the evening coming to a close, President Beth Hoban performs a celebratory hula for all of us.  Congratulations Beth...and Mahalo.  We look forward to your year. Presidential smiles - incoming and outgoing.  Beth with an eye to the future, and Paul reflecting on a year of fond memories.  Congratulations again...to BOTH of you.
